The Top Five
Confidence is contagious and so is insecurity. You may have heard it said that most people earn about as much as the five people with whom they associate the most. People are funny like that: we love to belong, to feel included. And we naturally gravitate towards those people that we feel most comfortable with.
Right now: pick up your cell phone and scroll down the call log: who are the five people that you talk to the most in any given week?
Are they people that you want to me MORE like, or less?
Are they people who encourage you to be your best or drag you down?
You can always reach out and create new friendships and associations with people that you want to be more like. You are the same person today that you’re going to be five years from now, except for two things: the people with whom you associate and the books you read. Pay any price to stay in the company of extraordinary people – and pay any price to make sure the five people that you spend the most time with are people who are encouraging you to be your best.
